What is vermiculite?
Vermiculite is the geological name given to a group of hydrated laminar minerals which are aluminum-iron-magnesium silicates. Exfoliated vermiculite is used in the friction brake linings market, high-temperature insulation, loft insulation, various construction products, animal feeds, horticulture, and many other industrial applications.
When exfoliated, the mineral expands up to ten times its original volume, resulting in lightweight granules that possess excellent insulation properties. Vermiculite can be treated in a variety of manners to make it suitable for a wide variety of applications where fire resistance and thermal stability are essential. Also ideal for wood-burning stoves.
