Ideal additive for animal feed

The light and airy texture, the neutral pH, the good absorbing property, and the ability to absorb water and subsequently release it gradually make perlite the ideal raw material as an additive in, for example, animal feed.

It is non-toxic, odorless, and environmentally friendly, so perlite does not pose any risk to human or animal health. For example, perlite is also used to combat red mite in large chicken farms and is used as a toothpaste additive. Another application is the use as a filter aid. Perlite is added as an aid to a slurry to form a filter cake as it prevents clogging and remains porous.
