Discover PULL's rich history

Quite a lot happened in 1947... the start of the cold war, the establishment of the CIA, the initiation of what later became the EU. But above all, the historic event of the discovery of the good insulating properties of a waste product from the flax industry. This affordable invention marked the start of the flourishing and exciting family business PULL.

Together gentlemen Pull and Van der Mark developed the product 'Puvlas'. A successful counterpart to the cork insulation, which became more expensive shortly after the war. Production started in July 1947 at the former country estate 'Hydepark' in Doorn.

In 1951 vermiculite was added to the production program because of the much higher temperature range. This was used to manufacture Pumica moldings, which are still available in the product range today.
Due to the continued growth of the company, it was forced to look for a larger production facility. The entire company had moved by 1951 and is still at its current location in Rhenen.

Shortly after the relocation, the company took on a new challenge. PULL was the first in Europe to start expanding perlite. A unique vertical oven system was successfully developed for this.
From this moment on, both vermiculite and perlite formed the raw materials for the wide range of insulating materials and horticultural products.
In 1969 PULL developed a new product line; the answer to all noise nuisance problems for various sectors. From sound insulation for machines to yacht building.
The company set up a separate trading division for acoustic insulation. PULL has been a reliable supplier of innovative acoustic insulation products ever since.
Due to the increasing demand for substrates in professional horticulture, the use of perlite for substrate solutions became an important part of PULL in the late 1990s.
The various substrate solutions from PULL are an indispensable basis for healthy and sustainable cultivation. Today this is still one of the most important product lines sold in large quantities.

Distinctively versatile for 75 years. Better cultivation, construction, insulation and prevention is our starting point. The purely natural raw materials perlite and vermiculite form the permanent basis of our sustainable and often circular solutions.
Continuous intensive research is still providing new applications for both raw materials. Such as a cattle feed additive and in the packaging industry.

To our great sadness, we had to say goodbye to our father and former director of Pull, Ruud van der Mark. After a difficult year in which the fight against dementia unfortunately was a central theme, he has finally found his peace.
He was a very social man with a big heart for all employees and a beloved business partner. An inspiration for many, especially for us, as his children. We will miss our father, especially his wisdom and his warm personality with beautiful humor. His memories will live on in our hearts and in the work we continue at Pull.
Rest in peace, dear Dad.
